Biggest storylines for Panthers vs. Buccaneers in Week 7
Will the return of a familiar face in Week 7 spoil the Panthers' ongoing coming-out party? Carolina Panthers are set to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, with the Panthers averaging the second-most total yards (404.4), the most passing yards (295.6), and the fourth-most points (29.2) in the league. The team's success has grown off the identity established by offensive coordinator and first-year play-caller Brad Idzik. However, Tampa Bay's starting quarterback, Baker Mayfield, is expected to return from a dislocated right thumb and will be wearing a custom glove to limit his throwing hand. The Panthers will be playing without starting cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson and their top edge defender, Jaelan Phillips, due to a hamstring issue. Despite being undermanned, the Carolina defense has improved significantly since its franchise-record 59 points in Week 1.
