J.S. Park explains on “Florida Matters Live & Local” that one of the rules of chaplaincy is to not bring up religion unless the patient does. J.S. chaplain at Tampa General Hospital, based on his personal experiences and career. His memoir, "We Are Made of Us," combines his experiences with evidence-based research and trauma-informed care principles. Park, the son of Korean immigrants, grew up an atheist and went from a psychology major to a seminary and a church ministry within seven years. He started his chaplaincy after completing a six-month internship at Tampa general, then a year-long residency. Park's biggest shift as a chaplain is to enter into a world as it is, not as I want it to be, and to learn about different family dynamics. He said he does not impose on the patient's life but instead acclimates himself to the patient.
