Baker Mayfield vs. Panthers Week 7: Three Expectations for Buccaneers QB
Baker Mayfield is back from a dislocated thumb in Charlotte, but Emeka Egbuka and Luke Goedeke are out, and that changes who he throws to and how fast. Baker Mayfield is expected to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Panthers in a Week 7 game at Bank of America Stadium, despite a recent injury to his throwing hand. The team needs Mayfield to steady the offense, which has been struggling without him due to injuries to Emeka Egbuka and Luke Goedeke. Mayfield dislocated his right thumb during a game against the Vikings and missed three games, with rookie Jalon Daniels winning one of three starts. Tampa Bay is a three-point underdog to the Panthers, while Chris Godwin Jr. is expected for at least eight targets. The Panthers' defense is weak, with Princely Umanmielen leading with three sacks and a 76.6 PFF pass-rush grade, and Derrick Brown having 11 pressures, no sacks and four batted passes, the most among interior defenders.
