Baker Mayfield vs. Panthers Week 7: Three Expectations for Buccaneers QB
Baker Mayfield is back from a dislocated thumb in Charlotte, but Emeka Egbuka and Luke Goedeke are out, and that changes who he throws to and how fast. Baker Mayfield is expected to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Panthers in a Week 7 game at Bank of America Stadium, despite a recent injury to his throwing hand. The team needs Mayfield to steady the offense, which has been struggling without him due to injuries to Emeka Egbuka and Luke Goedeke. Mayfield dislocated his right thumb during a game against the Vikings and missed three games, with rookie Jalon Daniels winning one of three starts. Tampa Bay is a three-point underdog against the NFC South leaders. The Panthers are also dealing with injuries to Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, with Will Lee III expected to take a significant share of the defensive work. Chris Godwin Jr. is expected for at least eight targets for the Buccaneers, while Bucky Irving is expected as well as Devin Lloyd, who has 452 yards on 96 carries and a league-worst defense.
