St. Petersburg police investigating crash that left motorcyclist dead

The crash occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday when a woman driving a silver Nissan Altima attempted to make a U-turn at 5th Avenue North to get on 34rd Street North and entered the intersection at the same time as the driver. The motorcycle began to skid on the ground before hitting an unoccupied parked car. The motorcycleist was not wearing a helmet and later died from his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. The driver of the Altima was cooperative with officers and St. Pete police say the victim's identity will be released once investigators reach his next of kin.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that left a motorcyclist dead Tuesday night on 34th Street North.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. when a woman driving a silver Nissan Altima attempted to make a U-turn at 5th Avenue North to get on 34th Street North, officers said in a news release.
The 48-year-old motorcyclist reportedly entered the intersection at the same time as the driver before the two collided. Officers said the motorcycle began to skid on the ground before hitting an unoccupied parked car on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and later died from his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, police said.
The driver of the Altima was reportedly cooperative with officers and St. Pete police say the motorcyclist's name will be released once investigators reach his next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
